And we call it Chinese New Year’s wind.

Do you realised that it is very windy lately? The weather seems to be great, not too hot and neither too wet.

In an Asian country like Singapore, the average wind speed is around 15 to 20 kilometres per hour, but now it has reached the time of the year when that figure goes up to 30 to 40 kmh.

The reason for the strong wind is because of the North—east Monsoon . Thank goodness that the “Moderate” North—east Monsoon bring only windy conditions and not disaster like tsunami, floods, etc.

Between December to March, stronger winds over the South China Sea and parts of the region are caused when "occasional surges of cold air" head this way from northern China. The impact of the high pressure system is windy conditions across Singapore.

When I was young, I always experienced strong wind during the Chinese New Year festival and my parent always tell me the wind was from China, due to snowing there. Looking at above statement, I think whatever they told me before was true.

The chillness from the wind just reminded me so much on Chinese New Year. The togetherness of the family, the spring cleaning together, putting up the decorations, lighting up the fire cracker, having reunion dinner together etc. Dad has been passed away for 18 years, and Chinese New Year will always be the same to me as he was always in my heart and thought. Lately mum’s health has been deteriorating, and I really hope that she is getting better soon. She is 71 years old this year, and she has a fall, that made her bedridden for the time being.
A lot of times, I tried to act strong when people asked me on mum condition but, deep in my heart, I am concerned. Well, just pray for the best and hopefully she is recovering.

Well, let talk something happy, since the festival is around the corner. The current strong wind can be so relaxing sometimes. A walk at night or early in the morning was so refreshing especially with the wind blow and the beautiful scene with tree leave falling, with trees trunk waving, welcoming me at the park. Have walk at the park during these few days and you know what i mean.

I am looking forward for Chinese New Year, as this will be the great times, to catch up with my siblings and mum. May everyone have a great time during this festival.
